Protopage is 7 years old and outlasts iGoogle!

Google announced today that it is shutting down iGoogle, which was a Protopage competitor.

Protopage launched in 2005 and is still going despite nearly every other start page shutting down or becoming derelict.

We were one of TechCrunch’s first ever posts on August 18th 2005 (after seeing we were the #1 most bookmarked site on delicious that weekend), and we’re still going strong!

FYI, unlike other start pages that took huge amounts of venture capital and underwent forced sales, Protopage is completely independent and debt free, and we hope to be around to celebrate our 50th birthday one day if the internet is still around…

I am trying to set up Protopage on my iPad and it doesn\\\’t work for me as I cannot select and drag the widgets. Also, the slightest tap on the screen and it blooms 3/4x the original size. There\\\’s no help to be had from the search box either.
Hoping to join you guys soon if I do not flame out.

Congrats! I love using my protopage. I\’ve become so dependent on it that I get nervous if it doesn\’t load right away.
    Thanks for the great work.

Is anyone else lately able to get a verification code sent? Have tried several emails, and checked junk box. No emails sent, though the site says it has.

I have been waiting for the activation email for 15 hours and it has not come yet. Yes, I have clicked the “Resend Activation” a half dozen times and nothing seems to be working. Is the activation feature temporarily down?

Glad I found this. I’ve been waiting for an activation email for 3 days. Tried numerous emails and even sent an email to Customer support. I’ve heard nothing. So I’m looking for another solution…

I set up an RSS feed for all the Blogs I follow. It was working great for about a week, and we are now on Day7 of it saying ‘feed retrieval in progess’. thought this was just a temporary issue, it has been over a week now and still not updating?

I have tried many others, this is still my favorite because of the handy one-page layout with the custom boxes, it\\\\\\\’s the best way I have found to organize my bookmarks, beyond the few I use every day ( I use speeddial2 for that) and the vast heap of rarely used but worthy bookmarks ( Keyword-searchable \\\\

That is hilarious! :) I like surfing everyday on the internet, evan tho, I am not that into it… It\’s not like a drug, and I can live without it! I\’ve tested already. I am not addicted to it.

Protopage is one of my all time top 5 internet apps. I primarily use it to have several tabs of bookmarks because a visual grid is much easier to remember than a drop down list or searching for the name of a site. The drag and drop feature is a great addition. It lets me maintain my bookmarks efficiently. Great job. I hope Protopage is around forever.
