‘Create duplicate’ feature
Many of you have written in asking for a feature to allow you to create copies of panels. Well, you know what happens when you write in and ask for something! You can now duplicate sticky note, links and news feed panels by clicking ‘duplicate panel’ from the edit menu.
Sticky notes will also now automatically open in editing mode when you add them to your page, saving you a mouse click.

Hi Team,
You keep amazing us!!!
Speaking of saving us clicks:
Currently, when I click the “Protopage it!” button, I get an intermediate screen asking if I want the link placed on any existing page, or wish to create a new page for it.
I’d like a config option that I can check to say: Use the current page without asking every time! Would this at all be possible? Or is it already there and did I miss it?

I agree with the previous commenter… maybe add it as an extra variable that can be passed to the page? (publishing an API for protopage would be awesome!)

I had been using the service for quite some time now and I normally make multiple copies of sticky notes by the classic cut and paste method. The other day, lo-and-behold, I noticed that my notes suddenly had this option to create a duplicate. What joy!!!
You guys are Marvelous!!! Ya had to make my life easier!!! Shame on you guys!!! ;)

I just LOVE all this stuff you’re doing. I never know when I open up my reference place, i.e., my “mieke desktop”, what I’ll find for a surprise, like it’s Christmas - so I get cheap thrills. I’m old and appreciate fun things, nice things, upbeat things.
I even feel like tackling my F*d up navigation system so my site gets back up and running.
Ever hear of the story about the dowdy lady who brought home a geranium plant. The tablecloth looked dull and old by comparison so she bought a new one…[story continues on that vein]
…and she marvelled at her brand new home! [end of story]
I just needed a pick-me-up that’s not all-geek nor all doin’ dishes maintenance - you’re the ONE!
Smashing

P.S. i filled your Suggestion Box the other day - needed somebody to talk to maybe, so please CTL+ALT+DEL my passing mood and accept my apologies. Thanks.

Just looked at your splash page - magnificent - tidy, cool, all FAQ-type information beautifully displayed so anybody can hook into what they like best, “tout de suite”.
Plain background, no clutter - yeah, maybe it’s boring but it works - you make it easy to sell your “wallpaper” feature for the people with doggie pictures and garden-flower pictures and such.
Too cool.

Thanks for sending in the feedback - it’s exactly the kind of detailed information about how you use it that really helps us understand our users and make things better. Please do send more if you have any further thoughts. For everyone that has sent in feedback - thanks for doing so - it’s fantastically useful. P.S. Mieke pointed out that few in the U.S. know what a ’sticky note’ is - please do chime in if you have any thoughts. We can’t call them Post-Its because we’d get into trouble with 3M…

I bet 3M might cut you some slack if you link to their site. ;>
It’s sorta like free advertising when you think about it…

I know what a sticky note is and I’m from the U.S.. I don’t see how that could be mistaken..

Anyone in the U.S. who is not familiar with “sticky note” needs to get out more.

Is there any way to duplicate the Weather panel? I’d like to be able to display two or three of them for different areas of the world I like to keep my eye on.
Lovely idea, BTW!!

Is there a way to copy and paste a sticky from someone else’s protopage to yours??? There are some really cool protopages out there.
I also think it would be cool to have a section on the blog for the top protopages of the week. people can either nominate others or themselves. Then there would be some sort of voting feature.
What does everyone thing??

I’ll second being able to copy sections / pages from other users
March 25th, 2006 at 9:30 pm
I would like to be able to copy and paste a “bookmarks” widget from another person’s protopage to mine. It would be nice to be able to copy an entire page or more than one widget at a time, but it’s not that important–especially if it delays getting the basic “widget copy” feature installed.
BTW, I don’t care about “best page” competitions. I don’t have time to deal with them.
